I never set out to open a functional medicine practice. I started in 1997 as a bedside nurse in critical care and oncology. I then completed my nurse practitioner training and began practicing hospital medicine.
For over two decades, I watched the same story repeat itself: people were admitted to the hospital not because the system missed something dramatic, but because a chronic illness had been allowed to fester for years without anyone asking when it was first diagnosed, why it was there, or how to stop it from progressing.
My work in public health and emergency response gave me a nationwide view of that same failure at scale. Together, those two perspectives gave me something most clinicians don’t have: a clear picture of how deep and wide the wellness gap runs.
When you've spent 30 years in a system built to treat disease rather than preserve health, you stop accepting "your labs are normal" as an answer. So, I built something else.
I know what dismissal feels like from the patient side, too. I’m a thyroid cancer survivor and the mother of a daughter who is also a survivor. I know what it’s like to want a real answer and leave without one.
I’ve sat with patients who described exhaustion, brain fog, hormonal chaos, and weight that wouldn’t budge, only to be repeatedly told their labs were “normal.” That moment when “I thought I was losing my mind” turns into “this actually makes sense” is the entire reason this practice exists.
I founded Wellness Continuum because the wellness gap between a “normal” lab result and actually feeling well needed someone willing to stand in it. Someone who can take 27 scattered symptoms, connect the dots, and say: “I see what’s happening. Here’s why. Here’s where we go from here.”
I’m also a wife and the mother of three humans and one rescue hound with strong opinions about everything.
Functional medicine gave me a framework for what I was already seeing. Hormones talk to the gut. The gut talks to the brain. Cortisol talks to everything. When you look at the whole picture rather than isolated panels, what seemed like a mystery starts to make sense.
My approach is built on clarity first, capacity second, and partnership throughout. No overwhelm. No 31-step protocols. No quick fixes dressed up as care. Just honest, rigorous, deeply human functional medicine.
Evening and weekend appointments are available by design, because the women who need this care rarely have the luxury of a Tuesday at 2 PM.
The Wellness Gap Assessment is free, no pressure, and designed to answer one question: are we the right fit for each other? Twenty minutes. No sales pitch. Just clarity.
